Two people were killed and another injured in a concert hall in Uppsala on Tuesday when one of them fell seven floors and injured two onlookers, police said.
A thousand spectators gathered at Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, a contemporary multi-storey building where a concert in honor of the famous Swedish pop band ABBA was to be held.
“We received a call about a person who jumped or fell from a great height inside the concert hall in central Uppsala,” an Uppsala spokesman told AFP.
The concert hall foyer had an open space where this person fell from the seventh floor, colliding with two other people. The person who fell, one of them, died and the third was injured.
Clarin added that the latter’s life is not in danger, and he was unable to provide details of the deceased as their relatives were not informed.
The police sealed off the room so as not to “miss any witnesses”, but the building was already deserted.
“It’s too early to tell if a crime has been committed,” Clarin said.
The drama was held before 7:00 pm (6:00 pm GMT) upon the arrival of the spectators. The concert was supposed to start at 7:30 p.m., but was canceled after the fatal fall.
